Introducing Multi-User File Sharing

Bringing Collaboration to RFIDLinked

RFIDLinked is excited to announce our latest feature: Multi-User File Sharing. This new addition allows for sharing Files and collected RFID Tag data between Users within the same account across devices seamlessly.

When creating files within RFIDLinked, you now have the ability to choose how the file will be shared within your account:

  • Private Keep your file exclusive to your own user, no other users will be able to access it.

  • Read Only Grants other users within your account the ability to view your file and tag data while restricting editing capabilities. One exception is that other users will be able to perform scan matches against your file, and save those match sessions against it.

  • Read and Write Enable collaborative editing, allowing any user within your account to make changes to the file and its associated tag data.

Secure Cloud Storage

You can trust that your data is always secure. No matter how you choose to share, all files are securely backed up to RFIDLinked's cloud storage, providing peace of mind and accessibility whenever you need it.

Additional Notes on Deletion

We understand the importance of data safety, so here’s what happens when a shared file is deleted:

  • Only the file owner has the authority to delete a file. For example, If another user attempts to delete a file that you own, it will simply be removed from their local device without impacting others.

  • In the event the file owner deletes a shared file, it will be removed from all users' devices. However, an archived copy remains on RFIDLinked's cloud servers, ensuring restoration is possible if needed.

Getting Started with File Sharing

Adjusting your Default Sharing setting

By default, all files that you create will be shared as Private, but you can easily change this setting.

Go to Account Settings and adjust your Default File Sharing Mode setting.

After adjusting this setting, any NEW files created will automatically be shared with your selected option.

Changing how an individual File is shared

You can adjust how a file you own is shared on a file by file basis.

Go to Files and select the file you would like to adjust the share setting on.

Click the More Options drop down and select Cloud Sync Permissions.

You can select how this file will be shared within your account. Clicking Update will initiate a background sync of the File adjusting its share level.

Syncing a File shared by another User

Pulling down a file shared by another is easy! In this example we will grab a file shared by the user Alice.

Go to Files and click the Options drop down menu. Select the Cloud Files option from the menu to see all files shared across your account.

Click on the specific file you would like to access, and then click the green Setup Syncing button to download the file to your device.

Once you have enabled a file to sync to your device, any changes made to it will be synchronized approximately every 15 minutes in the background. You can manually initiate a sync from the File options for each individual file if required.
